Walk through Living History Day in the Park May 11, 2024 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM

Join the 2nd USCT and friends at the Speed Spencer Stephens Park for a stepbak in time. Reenactors representing the history of the Civil War and other eras will engage guests in living history demonstrations. At noon, guests will enjoy the panale discussion “Emancipated: Now What” moderated by Dr. Anthony Thomspon, local history professor. Elementary and Middle School Students will be awarded prizes for their art projects and essays during the 1:00 PM Awards Ceremony followed by a May Pole demonstration. A fun day of performances, arts and crafts, games and vendors.

Emancipation and abolitionist ball May 18, 2024 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM

The 2nd USCT will host family and friends at its annual fundraiser at Parview at Cascake. Guest will enjoy the annual feast while overlooking the park and dance the night away with the 2nd USCT Dance Ensemble. In a special awards ceremony, the Althamese Barnes Service Award and the Samuel L. Tucker Scholarship will be presented.

Riley Center/Museum Graveside Ceremony May 20, 2024 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM

The 2nd USCT partners with the John G Riley Center/Musuem to honor soldiers buried inthe Old City Cemetary located on the corner of MLK Boulevard and Park Avenue. The ceremony features a gun salute, the decorating of graves and the playing of “Taps.
